You may want to post this in Tech. There are two U joint threads going on there now.

Personally I like Spicers U joints.

Well the trouble is ...Spicer doesn't seem to make solid u joints for the C4 Vette any more....are the Brute Force ones any good???I was going to go with the Spicers....but they don't seem to make one for the alumnium yokes......

Do you know what the difference is between that and the 5-800X? As Spicer didn't mention that as a ujoint for the C4 when I had called. I probably need to call them again to find out about that joint.

Yeah I know. A lot of people recommend Spicer, but Spicer has discontinued the ujoints for the C4.

I've heard good things about the Brute Force. Some like them better than Spicer. As one problem with Spicer is the seal they use can crack.

The PO put some Brute Force ujoints on one of the halfshafts. When I pulled it, they still seemed to be fine from what I can tell. I'm putting in Brute Force joints as you can get them easily at Advance.

I just replaced the left half shaft ujoints on my 88 with Spicer 5447-X U joints made for the C4 aluminum half shafts....Spicer does make them (coated)..............Try drivetrainspecialists...

Never mind, every spicer u joint I find is for steel yoke? Any updated part numbers for a 1984 unjoint that is greasable?

Old thread.

Moog is cheap and fine. I put down some pretty serious power for a c4 through them and they work for a couple years so far. Racing is another story entirely and still too many variables.

I'll soon be installing the Moog 231C Super Strength Universal Joint in my 1995 base coupe half-shafts. Not greaseable.
Bearing cups exterior are coated to resist corrosion with aluminium yokes -- I'll apply a little anti-seize as well.

I've also been running Moog u-joints on my half shafts for a few years now with no issues. I have the non-greasable ones which I got through RockAuto.

The overall consensus seems to be that the best halfshaft U-joint is the Spicer 53615X. It's available at lots of places. Moog is probably the next-best option.
