Which section to post in?

Which section to post in?
I just realized all my posts have been in the General section no matter what the topic. Now I see alot of posts in the General section that look like they should be in the Tech section, but nobody seems to say "you're posting in the wrong section". Would those posts get more views/responses if they were in the Tech section or doesn't it really matter?

I think it depends on the topic and issue, at least for me. My decision stick is, is it something that requires technical expertise, or something we do as a project.
But I have noticed some things that would be better served for the poster in tech. But it's not my call.
