oil pan ?
Ok guy's I need to know one last thing about the dam pan. Do I need to torque the bolts to certain degree or not. Do I juste bolt them down. I called Chevy they said they cannot hepl me.Thanks
I checked the Helms manual for my '86 L98 and here's what it calls for:
Oil Pan to Crankcase (1/4-20) 9 N m ( 80 lb. in.)
Oil Pan to Crankcase Nuts 19 N m (165 lb. in.)
Oil Pan Studs 9 N m ( 80 lb. in.)
I'm not sure why they show three different applications but I hope this helps. I tried to determine what the difference was and the only thing I see is that the Helms manual shows manual tansmissions using nuts and automatic transmissions using studs. Maybe someone else can chime in.

The reason the difference in torque values is due to difference size of hardware. There a 4 larger studs/nuts at each of the corners and the stuff in between are much smaller bolts (couple of studs/nuts too).
Notice those are inch pounds-so very small values.
