Hey!
First, CONGRAT'S on your new 'Vette! Get ready to have some FUN!FUN!FUN! Now, is there a web site to go to for the build sheet and window sticker? When I bought my 1st vette, it had the window sticker but, since moving, I can't find it! All I remember is that it was FULL! Everything you could order WAS ordered and the sticker price was $37,879.00 which, as far as I can figure, was PRETTY PRICEY in 1986! (Mine is a 1987 with the Doug Nash 4+3 tranny.)
Just one of the neat items that the 74 year old gent who ordered her from the factory had installed was a 4-band radar detector. I have searched for info on this gadget and cannot for the life of me find out ANY info! A couple guys looked at it and were amazed that it has the C4 emblem stamped into the face plate. Anyone on here have any idea's? The old guy was a very, VERY wealthy civilian marine engineer who worked for the Defense Department (Naval Division), designing radar and sonar equipment for ships and subs. Have any of you guys ever heard of or seen a "factory installed" Corvette C4 radar detector? If you have, please shoot me an e-mail and let me know if I have something unique or am I dreaming. Thanks and, again, CONGRATS! Bob mecop186@gmail.com

I would guess dealer installed...not factory installed. As for the emblem it's not uncommon for a manufacture to create signature series products just to get more money out of buyers. Is there an FCC ID number on it? You could check the FCC website to see who actually manufactured it.

The window sticker and build sheet can be ordered on the website of the National Corvette Museum. If you had become a member of the NCM at the same time you ordered, you would have gotten the member prices Becoming a member helps the NCM and the membership fee is fully tax deductible as a charitable contribution
I ordered those from the National Corvette Museum when I bought my 85 five years ago. I wanted the window sticker to verify what the car came with originally and to verify it was a Z51 car, etc. I remember getting a kit with the window sticker, build sheet, Corvette Black Book and dealer brochures from 1985. It wasn't that expensive either.
I've framed both and place them on the dash when I show the car. People get a kick out of the price from 25 years ago.
I found my original window sticker and purchase info papers under the drivers side carpet. It looked as if it had been their for many many years.
The original owner of my car turned out to be a very rich 65 year old drug dealer from Corpus-Christi TX. He was arrested in 1999 for dealing drugs and died in prison in 2001.
I wanted to contact the original owner, Just because I thought it would be cool. (I know if I ordered a brand new corvette, I would like to here it's story 17 years later).
I think the forum should have a section dedicated to the original purchasers of our cars. Maybe display the VIN number, owners name both original and present, and a recent picture of the car. That way, all corvette fans can track the cars they once owned and cared for.
Dont hold me to this but I do think the radar dector was a factory option. I just recall seeing this along with the CB radios being an option for eairly C4's

84/85 both list a radio with built in CB. Neither mentions a radar detector.

Radar detectors are not legal in some states, so I highly doubt that any Corvette (or any GM car for that matter) ever came with one factory installed.
