I have a '96 Collector Edition which i have replaced several sections of weatherstip. About 3 years ago I replaced the "B" pillar (behind the driver/passanger) with OEM, GM weatherstrip. The car is not kept outside, never sees rain and is always covered, yet the "B" pillar is starting to rot (like the old stuff i took off). When i bought the GM product it was NOS because of the age of the car.
My question is: Has anyone bought/used and liked any products from either Wilcox, or Corvette Rubber? I want the fit and finish to be the same as OEM (if that is possible). Please let me know what you have encountered.
Mel dont buy the OEM unless its wrapped and sealed. I bought a NOS A Pillar W/S molding and in less than it year it looked worse than the one I replaced it with. I say this because if they are not wraped to begin to deterioate. I have a lot of luck with Dyelectirc grease as a treatment for the seals. My rear seal is a Wilcox and after about two years I noticed a tear in one corner. Heat etc bakes em I guess.

and the grease looks better
I installed Wilcox in my LT4 and slowly it is molding to the doors...finally!
I did a frame off on my Pace Car and bought a ton of parts from Wilcox. They are stand up people and stand behind their products and even assisted me in tracking down some discontinued items. Good folks.
I installed latex A & B pillers about 2 months ago from Lonestar. I noticed this week they are cracking . I bought them back in Feb. They are replacing . Glad I did not use any " GLUE "
I am getting ready to buy willcox
did you buy anything else besides weather strip loke reatiners and such our did you reuse the old ones.
thanks Mike
Mike,
i purchased other retainers. they were only a few dollars. i figured that if i was going through the work i might as well do the retainers as well.
It is conductive of electricity, and is therefore used to lubricate / inhibit corrosion on electrical connections. Many people use it on spark plugs / boots.
What requires lubrication on a pool or spa ? thats a new one on me.
later, tiny
I have a pool and spa. I forgot that I had a tube of this stuff in my backyard. I have the skimmer cap in two places, so I use it on the 2 rubber o-rings.
I applied it today, but in the next year or two I will need to replace the weatherstripping. Several areas are cracked open or the beginning of rotting out.
