dam that was fun! changed the thermostat on the 87 yesterday. only took 2hrs....only problem was relining up the throttle body. but mission accomplished. i can see now where mechanics take advantage of some vette owners. but if you can do it yourself then enjoy....i did..

Enlighten me....I have a 96' and have changed the T-stat several times.
What does the throttle body have to do with the thermostat on a 1987?
A t-stat change takes 20 minutes on a LT1.
But....a plug, wire and opti change is a four hour job on a LT1.

in order to get to the rear bolt on housing its easier to take the body off. made it easier to complete. took my time though-probably could have done it sooner.

I stick with a 195 as that is stock. You can get thermostats that have a giggle valve already in it, which helps let air bubbles pass. I believe the Duralast have giggle valves in it.

If you go with a fail safe, some people have problems with those getting stuck open too easily.

I'm sorry that is a 30 minute project tops
But it's great to know you are turning your own wrenches
It's a 2 job
I have the TB water hose by-passed so it's a easy on R & R

On a L98 it's a little in the way eaiser, to remove the TB
