Ok, so I'm getting the picture as to why I got this Vette at such a great price... The bugs are showing up left and right, but that's alright. I'll fix 'em one at a time. So on to the title of this thread. It's a '93 Vette with the Bose sound system. The rear speakers are shot. The front are ok, but may need to be replaced at some point.
So the decision I need to make is this: Bose systems need to be kept all Bose... So are there factory-equivalent replacements available?
Or Option B: Ace the whole Bose system, buy a new head unit and whatever speakers I can shoe horn into the factory locations?
I'd like to get the Bose speakers replaced, unless it'll cost me an arm and a leg... Any suggestions?
I had the same questions about a week ago. I did some reading of old posts and got most of the answers I was looking for. Your best bet is to check out the FAQ in the Audio section of the forum.

good luck with the bugs.
Yeah, that whole "search old threads on the forum" thing is turning out to be my weakness... I'm DETERMINED to get better at it! Thanks for the feedback... And the bug smasher smiley dude... Good stuff!
It is most likely that your speaker amps need to be rebuilt. There are a couple of places who do it. dr. Dons , $80 and Fixworks $40. dr. Don is over priced trying to ride on his name. I used Fixworks.com

Tear it all out, even the sp wires.
4x6 fit in mine up front no probs. I used 6x9 in the rear but made new enclosures for them...easy.
If you are not looking to keep it stock , I do because I put it in shows , aftermarket radio is a mod. , if to many you go to mod.
That is a good point. The car is pretty much stock at this point, but not a show vehicle. Just a nice driver with which to hit to Saturday morning Early Rodder shows... I have a feeling I'll end up acing the Bose and put in a conventional system.
I have a sony explod with pioner and infinity speakers that fit in the bose enclosers that I took out of my 95 and also have the trim piece for radio to fit in the Vette. I took it out to get back to stock. You can have it all for $100. PM if interested.
