I have a 93 convertible vette with an interesting problem i cant figure out and needing some advice. Tried searching for something similiar and couldnt find a topic. Everything runs fine, idle, acceleration, no misses etc. When i give it half throttle or more, the red BRAKE light on the instrument cluster lights up for a few seconds, then goes out. The same time my "service ASR" and "service ABS" comes on and stays on. The weird thing is, the car still acts normal, ABS and brakes work fine, ASR works. It will only reset when i shut off the car and restart. But this only happens at half throttle or more. Normal driving runs fine. Ran codes, and nothing pops up. I am thinking maybe a vacuum line from Master Cylinder? I am usually a decent wrench, but this one has me baffled. Thanks in advance to anyone that can point me in the right direction.
Had a Buick that would give me lights as you describe under hard acceleration**.
Turned out to be a fluid level sensor that would engage because the brake fluid would slosh to the back of the reservoir and the car would think it was low on brake fluid.
That said, I have not encountered this problem on my 96 Coupe.
later, tiny
** we were late to the 1400 "all you can eat buffet" at the cafeteria....and yes I drove there with my left blinker on as required in the Buick owners manual

This is pretty common, top off the master cylinder, the low fluid sensor is pretty sensitive.

If the fluid level is even a 1/4" low, hard acceleration can cause the two warning lights to come on. If you look at the side of the reservoir you will see the MAX fill line. You can go slightly above that line but make sure that the rubber seal in the cap is folded back up in place.
Yep that is what it was brake fluid level...I feel like such a dumb###...I dont know why but with vettes i was thinking the worst and it was the darn fluid..anyways thanks for the replies.

Heck NO,
reading these posts gives us all, esp. NooBs like me, valuable information, locked and stored forever in our tiny brains waiting to be accessed in the future.
Yeah ive had mine for a little over a year, first time owner of a C4 and dont get me wrong, this forum has been a GREAT help for me to avoid mistakes that i would have otherwise made on my own, but sometimes i read the problems others have had, and get in my mind "yep here it goes another 500 dollar job", and well, at least this time, it cost 2.99 at advanced auto. That i i always think the worst..lol...half empty kind of guy here.

I got mine in Dec this last year. I'm just now getting over the " What have I done" thoughts.

Well...at least we got ya squared away before you pulled the tranny (bseg) . When you go to replace the brake pads you will probably want to to do one set at a time and them pump the brakes back up otherwise you may be in an overfill situation on the reservoir.
