Will found out at Garber auto mall tech shop I got to many holes to count in my AC system. Should I delete the AC and add it back once my 383 LSX build (which God only knows when Ill do it) is started, or just turn my head and hold out some cash and get a new AC system?
I don't know about you, but w/out A/C, my vette would become a garage queen.
Don't you live in Fl? Good God man, do you NEED to ask this question?
R U immune to heat?
I live in NW Indiana and it's bad enough up here...I couldn't imagine.........

Our summers are nothing more then afternoon rain. There are day it gets hot but not many. Plus driving with the windows down doing 40 mph keeps the inside cool.
Im just at a lost at what to do because they still not given me a cost and the work has been done for an hour now. I know Ill get the best bang for my buck here because Im a member of the JCC (jacksonville Corvette Club).
Find one thats being parted out. I got this 90 system for 350.00 and it was charged and put it in my car and blows ice cold. You don't have to break the system down to install it either.
I live in the Mountains near Canada. Winters are long and brutal cold. Come spring, I wake up my Vette and the top comes off till fall when she is tucked back in for another long winter. I want to enjoy the summer days and wind while driving. To me, AC is a costly nothing. AC dont do poop with the roof off. I honestly done know if my AC works or not.....dont care. Between the late 70's and early 90's none of my C3's had air either.
i am in Jacksonville also, and I couldn't imagine living without the A/C here!! There is a guy on Lenox ave (wade's corvettes) who has all the parts you would need, but I would bet that it is mostly o-rings that need to be replaced. He got the a/c working in my old 89 really good.
Mine doesn't work either but no leaks and a full charge, might just run a switch from the compressor [because it works] to under the dash and turn it on when I need it.
Will the word on my AC system is it more holy then _______. total cost to replace 3k.
I would get a 2nd opinion. There are shops that will not want to take on the fix...and there are others that will. Sometimes throwing out a High $ quote is their way of saying they don't want to work on it.
It doesn't hurt to shop around. Don't get discouraged.
I just had my 87 AC fixed...new compressor (old one was about to go out and with a serpentine belt did not want that to happen), converted to new refrigerant and new belt tensioner and I paid about $1000. With Mississippi heat it sure feels sweet blowing good and cold.
