I just came across a 1993 C4 Coupe in unreal condition. The car looks like its brand new, so I had to buy it. I have always been a truck guy, but I have always wanted a corvette as well. I have been debating on keeping it stock or modifying it like cold air intake, custom exhaust, etc... nothing major. I was just wondering if the car would be worth more in the future completely stock or modified? PLEASE tell me what to do!
if you plan on reselling the car, keep is as stock as possible. you never get your money back for mods, and in some cases they can even lower the value. however, if you plan on keeping the car mod the hell out of it! these cars will never be the value of the old muscle cars (with the exception of zr1's, callaways, gs's, etc.), so dont bank on the hope that an original c4 will bring huge money someday.
o, an pics are a requirement around here
Different strokes, for different folks. For me, if I had to drive a stock vette, I would not have an interest in the car. Terribly underpowered and quiet from the factory.
I followed the same thought that I will mod to suit me, and save the old parts just in case. Now, 19 years later, I am tired of tripping on the boatload of extra parts.
If a miracle happens, and my 87 all of a sudden becomes a rare, desirable car to collectors, I am armed to reassemble it, make a killing and move on. In my opinion, that will never happen for my run of the mill 87.
Why do you want to mod it? The car has sufficient power now to get you into deep trouble or even dead. If your passion is trying to get more unuseable power from a car, OR if you are into racing, mod away. Otherwise I would enjoy what you have.
whats special about a stock car?
Unless it has less than 10k on the odo I say do what you want with it knowing you wont get that mod money back when you sell it and have fun. Consider the money you pay for the mods as the price of enjoying it that much more.

Well if future bank is what you are looking for.. put it in a bubble and seal it up. (it wont help but it will make ya feel better)
Seriously.. Make it yours, just ease into it.. and do the mods right the first time..Parts with the "corvette" tax are expensive to redo.
Enjoy it.. its a heck of a lot of fun to drive and own.
I hope you bought the car to have fun. If you bought it for an investment...Good Luck.
You might want to consider just driving it and getting used to it before you decide to mod it. That way you would be more knowledgeable as to what mods you might consider investing in. Believe me, you will learn a lot of the do's and do not's on this forum. Read and learn from other Vette owners experiences.
Drive it this year and lurk/post in the forums. Mod it next year with a comprehensive plan.
Although if you are worried about selling it down the road, just realize you'll get next to nothing for any mods you do to the car. Most won't hurt the value, but none will improve it. Me, I'm modding as money allows, but I also don't have any plans to EVER sell this puppy.

My car was/is a bit of a beater, not worth much. Therefore I modded the holy hell out of it, and im nowhere near done. Still needs paint, but it sure is a whole lot more fun!
