Default Console door removal

I have 1 1990 coupe and the center console door padding is peeling up. I'd like to remove the entire door and try and repair this since a new one is over $240. My question is what do I have to do to remove this door? Thanks

Paul

I have a 92, so they should be similar if not the same. to take it off you have to take out the screws holding the hinge to the box. You also have to disconnect the connector for the console light.

I peeled off the padding, re-glued it and wrapped it with duct tape until the glue dried.

take your time and be patient and you will be fine. good luck

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Raise and support the vehicle securely on jackstands.

Open the console door. Look at the big piano hinge. The hinge is held to the console by four screws. Take them out and remove the console door with the hinge still attached.

Lower the vehicle and remove jackstands before driving.

I left some steps out on purpose to avoid the topic of which synthetic leatherette is better. Besides the OP never posted the console's DTC. How do we even know there is a problem with it?

We can't compare coverings until we decide which oil is better
