Default wheels for '85 Vette needed

Hey Guys,

Hot Rod Magazine is going to be track testing an '85 Corvette on July 12 and we are in need of a spare set of STOCK wheels for the car. We'll stick new tires on them and give them back to the owner. There should be a pretty decent amount of new tread left on the tires when we are done.
Anyone from socal feel like loaning out a set? send me an email if you do. Thanks!
Oh yeah, we are also looking for a stock electric fan for the car.

I would think Hot Rod Mag would be a supporting member and would be able to prove who they are in their PROFILE which yours is empty.
Can't Hot Rod afford some wheels?

Mike, you've got to factor in 'time and trouble' on all of this. I live in SoCal, so let's say you take up KRG's offer on borrowing the wheels. At least an hour to pick them up, maybe more depending on where you're at and another to drop them back off. Add in time to apply new rubber and then dismounting them off've the car.

I'd say buying a set would be easier. Shawn in Van Nuys (much closer than Valencia from the SFV or LA) has a set for $500, with brand spankin' new BFG G-Force Sports on them. It's on Craigslist even! And he's been selling parts for years. How could you not go wrong on this? $200 without the tires, but again, factor in your time.

'84-'87 factory Corvette rims with new tires. The tires are 255/50/16 BF Goodrich G-force Sports with 0 miles. The nibs on the tires are shown in one of the pictures. I am williing to sell the rims separately for $200. or if you are interested in just the tires they would be $400. I am parting out about 30 Corvettes so if you are looking for other parts let me know.

That's a good point. We've already got the tires though and If we can help someone out by getting them some decent rubber then that would be cool.

Thanks for the offer. Id like to avoid shipping them though. I'll get back to you if I have to go that route.

And your language represents the community better, LOL

This guy could be anybody. Joined a few days ago and is asking for free wheels with a "promise" that they'll be returned with new, but used tires, LOL.
Why would anyone want to test an 85 anyway?

Is that somethink like- " Hello!, I have inherited 15 million USD, but my government won`t let me have it because I got a J walking ticket. But, if you give me your bank account number, they will send you the money & I`ll split it with you??

Cruisin' relax....it's just a guy trying to write an article on a C4.....maybe we should support his efforts just a bit.....C4s aren't making the cover of too many mags these days...

And I state it again, Stock '84-'86 C4 wheels are at aluminum recycling value currently...they work great as boat anchors...or to weight down a trout line......

I seriously......seriously left mine at the tire shop when I put on my new mags....I told them to hold them for a day or two...LOL.....I never went back for them...

They are dated...they are ugly....they are no doubt sunburned by now.....mostly out of round after hitting curbs for 26 years.......

c'mon...unless you are trying to get your car into the NCM (whatever it is called) those wheels are most likely sitting in a garage somewhere collecting dust....

So, let's not put anymore energy into worrying about a set of wheels that may disappear in a Nigerian 419 scam....

Ya know why I want to help the guy??

Just to help out.....lol

I'm not sure that's fair to respectable boat anchors around the world, and frankly I'm surprised you spent the energy it takes to throw one off the side of a boat into the ocean...

Oh wait! That's right, you didn't. Actually, the more I think about it the more I'm thinking that years of coral would improve on their looks. Maybe tossing them into the ocean IS a good idea.

Who really cares? If I still had stock 85 wheels and someone had a legitimate use for them I'd give them away or maybe sell them for 50 bucks...scrap value. Look around, everybody and their dog is running ZR1 knockoffs these days, nobody cares about stock 84-88 rims.

Wow sorry for all the drama, guys. It looks like we may have found a donor though thanks to one of the members here.

Cruisinfanatic- you can contact the mag, the website, Source Interlink Media or anyone else that might make you feel better about me asking to borrow a set of wheels.

PS i've never been to Nigeria.
