auto or stick?
for an auto its gonna be the tranny first, then the read end/u joints
for a stick, the clutch then the ujoints, the tranny and dana 44 are pretty tough..
as long as you dont run slicks it should survive a fair bit over power, i would estimate over 400
If its a stick it can hold loads of power. Your only limiting factor in that aspect is if you are going to run slicks or not? If not then 500hp is not a problem. I have seen more than that even without a problem.
I'm only making 336 hp, but I'm afraid to run slicks. I don't think I would break anything serious, just a few u-joints possibly, but I don't want the hassle. I am however not at all afraid of it on street tires, I'm looking to get up around 400 hp N/A with a set of heads and I still won't be worried about it.
Many years in the future when I put the supercharger on it as well I might start to get worried.
For what application. Drag racing, road racing, autocrossing, daily driver...whet tires...slicks, drag radials, street tires.
All depends. I have broken u-joints, half shalfs, hardened outer spindles, pistons, and I know others that have broken lifters, valve springs, rear ends on top of everything I have broken.
