Default Daytona 500 2011

Hi all. Planning a trip to Daytona for the big race. Have never been before and looking for input as to best seats. We have looked on the site map and viewed seats in the Weatherly Box, Campbell Chair and Roberts Box. I know seats start at $160. but this a family trip with son, daughter, inlaws, etc., (you get the picture). Anyways, any advice would be appreciated. By the way, anyone looking for a great drive this summer, come to Nova Scotia!

Been there over 30 times.

If you select seating on the back straight you will not be able to see anything that happens on pit road. You will be able to watch the big screen tv in the infield. = sucks.

The tri oval area is the best however it is the most expensive. Do not sit below rows 30 or 40 no matter what seating section you pick, there has been so much construction in the infield area you will not be able to see the back straight.

Be prepared to walk a mile or 2 from where you park unless you get to the track at 4am.

The best seat in the house is in your house however everyone should attend the event at least once.

Good luck, have fun, bring folding money.

BTW: Stay off of US92. Purchase a local map & use back roads to get around or 1/2 of your vacation will be spent sitting in traffic.

I'd suggest booking lodging anywhere out by SR40 in Ormond Beach, and take williamson out to the parking area off Mason Ave. or Clyde Morris Blvd. around Bill France Blvd. and take the shuttle in from there, parking anywhere within 2 miles of the track will be almost impossible to find, and those lots fill up quick. Good Luck and have fun dealing with all that traffic.

What Churchkey said especially about rows 40 and up. My last two trips I had seats across from the beginning of pit road. For the bucks I couldn't have done better. If you like horror stories, three years ago I went with my B-I-L, sat in seats across from pit road exit on row 4. Spent a complete race cold, wet and all I saw was the tops of cars as they flashed by at 190 mph. Race was delayed four hours due to rain. Over at 1 AM, Didn't get home until 5:30. No more races for me unless it is on TV.

Forgot to mention that I spend five years in Volusia County... Ormond Beach specifically from 2001 to 2006. Enjoy your stay there!!

"2011" will be a spectacle for sure!

New pavement and "smooth"!

I'd gather tickets very soon. The "2011" event will likely be one of the more sought after event tickets in Daytona ever.
