Train Horn?
I keep seeing these post about people almost getting hit by other people because they are not paying attention. And I have only had my vette for a week and see how that is true. So I thought that maybe some how I could put train horns on the vette.
What do you think? lol

I have 2 sets (8 trumpets) on my denali. There would not be much room for them on a vette. You have a 3 or 4 trumpet setup varying in length between 8 and 15 inches usually. Then an air tank and an air compressor to mount.
Having the horns does kick total *** for when douchnozzles act stupid on the road. I've had people pull out in front of me too close for my liking and when I lay on the horn, I have actually had people drive off onto the sidewalk or veer off into the first quick turnoff area they find to get out of the way. I've had a lot of fun with that thing. The downside is the space they take up and the complexity of wiring and air hoses. And the fact that as with any compressed air setup, they leak a little air and so the compressor tends to run often, which is noisy and draws voltage when the lights and/or a/c is on.

Actual train horns take a pretty fair volume of air so you'd need a good-sized reservoir. They WILL work at lower pressure but on locomotives they use about 130 to 140 PSI - so the reservoir has to be made of some fairly hefty steel. And as Kevin notes they take up a lot more room than is practical on a Vette. I just measured a 5-chime Leslie and it's roughly 2 feet long, 30 inches wide, and about 10 inches high. Where would you mount THAT in a Vette?
Non-Corvette note, at one of the railroads I work on we used to have a train buff who was not hitting on all cylinders, so to speak. This moron had a pickup with horns mounted. His big fun was driving around to crossings and blowing HIS horn while the train was blowing the one on the locomotive. Wheeee!

I have a set on my Toyota SUV only because they stuck a really pathetic, wimpy, POS beep-beep pansy-a$$ on it.
I have considered it for the Vert, but decided not, not a lot of space, and the stock horns are no where near as bad as those pathetic ricer ones.

Here's mine. You can see the compressor nearest in the pic, and the two sets of trumpets, then one of the air tanks on the other end. You can't see a second air tank hidden up inside the front bumper rebar.

'Tis true. People either laugh (about 10% of the time), get scared (about 70% of the time), or they get SUPER PISSED OFF (about 20% of the time).
But, I dont go around blowing mine just for ***** and giggles. I have to be provoked by someone driving like a douchenozzle or walking/standing somewhere that they shouldn't be.
I could tell SO many stories about this.

I've seen kits for a "semi-tractor" horn kit before. Don't know who sells them.
