Hey all, Can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell how old my bilstein shocks are? Also whats the best way to tell if indeed they do need replaced? I have had the car almost two years now and I am thinking they may need replaced. I have found the Tokico shocks , all four for $118.06 with free shipping. Thanks. brent317

where did you find those tokicos if u dont mind me asking???
I was going to get mine rebuilt (bilsteins), but by the time I paid shipping cross country twice and the rebuild. I found brand new ones for the same money (free shipping) and a life time warranty. I did keep the originals.
The shocks from the factory are different bilsteins then the ones sold at the parts houses. The orig. Bilsteins are only made for the new car dealers and are not sold anyplace else according to bilstein. They are $$$$$ but they are a little softer
I called in the numbers of the original 1995 Delco bilstein shocks to bilstien rebuild located in california, he looked up the specifications on the valving and rates of the original shocks and told me they were the same as the new part # I could get from them. I hope this is all true and I did the right thing. One thing I do not want is a firmer ride. I installed goodyear F1 D3 eagles and they say those are firmer riding. With the new shocks and tires it is a little firmer ride.
good luck-let us know how it turns out. When I first contacted bilstein eng. dept.-they told me the orig. shocks were only sold to dealers because they were lisc. to sell them. That same shock was not sold to parts houses
how to tell if your shocks are worn....for the front apply the brakes if the nose dips drastically they need replacing or rebuilt.
Same principle in the rear when hitting the brakes in reverse. it is best if watch some one else do this for you it should be done at relatively low speed. if you have one shock worn it will show in the tires. the tire worn more than the others will show that.
