Beautiful evening here today so I went out for a run. Only a couple of vettes in our small town. Tonight I met a C3 and C6 (tourists 1 Maine and the other PEI) it was nice to pop the lights and get a wave back. Very seldom I get that chance. Wave alive and well here in small town Nova Scotia.
I was out earlier in my Impala and passed by a Torch Red late C4 and gave a thumbs up and managed to get a wave from the driver. Some people wave and some just don't pat attention.
A car comes up on my left (4 lane Highway), and honks it's feeble Asian horn.
I look over, it's a 1985 (approx). Civic, being driven by a kid old enough to be my grandson, with ear plugs the size of soda cans.
He gives me the thumbs up.
Noone waves around here so I gave up. If they wave first I'll throw it, otherwise I'm tired of looking like an overexcited wannabe wavin at everybody when they just look at me as if to say "go kill yourself".
Here in San Diego I'd say I get waves from 75% of the vettes I drive by. Back in South Florida (when I drove my uncles vettes) It was about the same percent I'd say.
I wave and get waves. But here in Phoenix, lots of times there is a lot of space between you and the Vette you are waving to (eg, on the freeway) and out here almost everyone has their windows tinted to keep the ever present sun out so it can be tough to see if anyone waves back. But I still do it. When I do manage to make eye contact with a driver and wave they almost always wave back (or beat me to it in the first place). There are a lot of distractions though for drivers... cell phones, iPods, etc. People just don't see you for the most part.

While i was out cruising with the vette this weekend i came upon 2 C3's coming in my direction on separate occasions so i automatically gave them the vette wave and didn't get one in return from either of them(the wife actually started to laugh at me). So the next vette i see coming in my direction is a C6 and i say to myself no way i'm waving at this guy the wifey already had her snicker for the day, and as soon as he spots my vette he's waving at me with a smile from ear to ear on his face, so of course i give him the wave back. Go figure, you'd think it would be the other way around.
I don't ever post on these wave threads but I'm bored... I just drove the C5Z on a little road trip and was paying close attention to other Vettes on the road as well as the waves. I had 2 people (1 C5 and 1 C6) wave from the OTHER side of the highway. I passed 2 C3s, about 5 C5s, and about 10 C6s. Almost every single one of them gave a wave. The only one that didn't was an older guy in a C6 who was driving about 50mph in the slow lane... go figure.
On the other hand, when I passed C4s I was 0 for 4. That's right... 0. I even had one guy pull up next to me in a dirty C4 with a crooked *** Greenwood wing hanging off the back and give me some nose up look! Especially lately I have noticed that most of the non-wavers are C4 owners. I don't know if it is because they are so cheap that there are new owners who don't know better or if it is the typical C5 hatred that happens in here for some unknown reason. On the other hand, most of the C6 guys seem to be very enthusiastic about their waves with hands all the way out the windows or even through the roof. Go figure.

No hatred here, i lovem' all. I've recently started looking at the C5 Zo6's but i only have a 1 car garage at the moment and wouldn't want to leave either outside.
Have to squeal on friends of mine. They just bought a C6, and have not driven it much, due to their working hours. Anyway, I got a message the other day from the wife who said "What's with all the waving? Are we supposed to do that?" (I thought they KNEW better!!!) Anyway, I instructed her, and she said there were probably a bunch of corvette people pissed at them now. To tell you the truth, they didn't even know it was a C6...just wanted a corvette. So I guess we still have to instruct the absolutely new-to-corvettes owners, regardless of the year of their vette.
And I agree, the picture in the manual needs to be changed to include the "wave."
