I just took my car in for a rear tire rotation...They are directional, so you need to pop them off the bead and turn them around. I did this because there is more wear along the inside edges than the outside, one tire much more so...I think I found out why!
The guy at the shop pointed out that there was one 285 and one 255 on the back! The other 285 was on the front.
The tires have been on the car for 13 months 17K miles and I can't think of another time all four have been off the car since then! Anyway, I am squared away now...I am pissed that whoever put them on wasn't paying attention, but even more so at myself for never noticing this!
Think it's a good idea to get the car re-aligned? Do ya think running with different width tires screwed it up?
Those are the stock sizes for that car, I just did a ton of research on them since I replaced all 4 when I bought it. Typically you don't rotate these. You might want to look at alignment or suspension if you have uneven wear.

Yes they are the right sizes but both 255's belong on the front
All of the tires have a decent amount of life left in them...The 255 that was on the back is worn on the inside part of the tire, that one I will probably replace in the near future...
Even with mismatched tires on rear i would suspect either a camber or toe issue on the rear since your rear tire was only wearing on the inside. Don't know about where you are but here in central Texas, Firestone used to do free alignment checks. Meaning they would check the alignment and let you know if it was in or out. Of course they would love for you to go ahead and get one done if it needs it. Actually they used to have a good deal on lifetime alignments, pay once and have done for free then on. Now the disclaimer: Use Firestone at your own risk, like any other place they can have good tech's and not so good tech's. (used to be service manager at a Firestone)
That is a general tire calculation. Different brands very well could measure slightly different.
See? THAT'S why I love this place....always learning something...but wait...that also means I didn't know everything in the first place.....uh oh...maybe my ex g-f was right after all
