I'm trying to order a new chip from pcmforless.com, but one of the things they require is a broadcast code. Their website says it's a 3 or 4 letter code that can be found on the stock ECM or the stock chip. My problem is that both the ECM and the chip have been replaced. Has anyone out there run into this problem and if so, what did you do? Thanks...
Mike
ps... it's a 91 coupe L98/ 6spd
I wondered what that code was all about... i figured it might have been some kind of emissions thing. Trans id makes perfect sense too.
That is the only one I find listed for a manual car, there are several for automatics depending on axle ratio, I think manual cars were only available with 3.45's. I have no idea why the axle ratio would be significant on a manual car except possibly CAGS. On automatics I'm guessing it is for converter lock up, 91 cars use a hydraulic governor to control shifts.
I just took the ECM out of the car and nothing... as I said earlier, both the chip and the unit were replaced and there's no markings at all. There was a tag, but it had a number...7727 if I remember correctly, but PCMforless says its a three or four letter code. Now what?
