Default LCD Lighting Question

I know that if I search, there are tons threads on digital dash problems -but hoped that my problem is common enough to get a quick answer. All of my dash functions fine, I just have a bulb problem.
The tach & the right 1/2 of the info center (Temp and mileage)loose the lights -I can still see the readouts, they are just dim.
When they work, they both work and visa versa.
Is there a specific hot wire or a ground wire that I should look for that is just for the bulbs in these two sections?
Thanks,
Glen

Sounds like a ground or bulb burned out. LCD repairs can be done and this site is the "bible" Heres the link, just click on the dash repair.

I have looked at that link before and the information is great! I belive that I have a bad ground because the 1/2 section that loses the lights, has everything go out -again the gages & tach work, but are very dim. Then periodcally everything on the dim 1/2 comes back on.
The repair section on dim lights seems to be when the whole unit is dim as it relates to the ground that they indicate on the drivers side of the engine.
Again, my dimming is only on the tach and 1/2 of the information center -so my question is if there are two grounds that connect together and then go to the one point?
I would think that if it is like this, I need to find out where the ground wires come together and that may be my bad spot?
Or does the ground feed in at one point and then travel within the cluster and I have a weak point within the cluster that is losing the ground?

Solder on the clusters is notoriously crack prone. Not exactly sure but if you remove the panel it may be obvious. Even if its a ground wire you still pretty much hafta start there.

Good luck!

My 88 Coupe that I just bought has exactly the same concern, but it is dim on the left side. (speedo and left side of info center) If you figure it out, please drop me a line! Thanks!
