OK, I hate these type threads as much as the next guy....Took the 94 Z07 fully loaded to the Mazda dealer to see how much the would give me in trade. After a little arm twisting they came to 10 grand.
This is a fully loaded 1994 Z07 with 54000 on it...It starts hard when it's hot outside(could be injecters or who knows what), I think it needs new tires this year or next, the clutch system needs to be replaced as the fluid is black, so that is both the upper and lower resivours(sp), passenger window needs to be fixed from going up too far, the battery cover is broke on the drives side on the botom, shoudl be replaced....
Should like a fair trade value? Of course...they don't know the car like I do... KBB say 10,900 for a 2D coupe loaded...is the Z07 worth more?
not that i know much about that year, but if the dealer is giving you close to book value, they must want it real bad. again, for a dealer trade that's not bad, but you can probably get plenty more through a private sale....none of my business, but why would you trade in for a "Mazda"

I just kinda like the way they look and it's for my kids to drive. zero percent finance as well. Zoom Zoom...LOL
I also know a few people that have them and they all really like the reliability of them.
Heck, my 94 has 60,200 miles and doesn't have any problems. In fact we upgraded the stereo and have corsa exhaust. I wish I could get $10,000 in trade in value. I wouldn't think I could.
Did you tell them you were trading in before the deal? Are you buying a new car?
They are making up the difference somewhere or they already have it sold to a wholesaler at what or near what they offered.. belive me.
If they're going to give you $10K, then that's a great deal on YOUR part, as long as you're driving the new car away, you should be good.
Back in the early 80's I traded in a mint appearing Chevy Citation X-11 that had low miles on it at the Honda dealer on a Honda CRX, as we were going to be doing a long distance commute on it.
That X-11 sure looked great, but it was one fried car! Too many canyon runs and races on it, clutch, tires, etc, etc (similiar to the 'Vette you're talking about).
Thought we had one on them.... But we waited many weeks for that CRX (they were the hot ticket back then) and they sure made us pay, that-a-way on it!

Yep, I walked in and told them I'm trading it in on a new car. As you know they are a one price shop, so they are making their money somewhere.

What do you mean "a one price shop"? Is that like the Saturn dealers, the sticker price is the selling price, no negotiation?
If they're offering you $10K for your car they're making it up on the Mazda. Go to another dealer and get a price on that same equiped car without a trade in.

Well the vette is gone and I now have a Mazda 3 2.5...pretty snappy little car. The car is for the kids...I had my fun with the vette...
All the dealers here are 1 price shopping now. The price on the car is the price you pay...if you don't have this today in your state, don't worry it's coming!

I always thought it should be so ...
What's the point of getting ripped off... I'm glad we don't haggle at the grocery store
"I will not pay more for that onion"
"these bananas are too green for that price"
It's the end of the month they are making there money on factory money for the number of cars out this month that is how it works. That cash is tagged onto each unit sold from the first day. sales guy gets a $100.00 flat and the dealer makes the real cash.

They give the dealer insensitive to move the vehicles .. sales men are treated like vacuum cleaner salesmen they sell to fanily and friend then they move on. The ones that last are the good ones either they are good people or good liars.
Sounds like you got a decent price for the Vette, Garret. My sons both have Mazdas (a Protege5 and a Mazda 6 sedan), and they've been great cars. Best of luck!
