Default headroom

Apologies if this has done the rounds here before...
I've read on other boards on the interwebs about people 6'2 and even 6'4 claiming to be able to fit in their vettes. How the hell do they do it?
I'm 6' 250lbs. Legroom is ok, not great but this isn't a Caddy. I have maybe 1/8 inch headroom, and when I went for a ride yesterday, I hit the side of my noggin looking left before a turn, got the visor in the forehead about 20 seconds later, then hit a small pothole and bounced up with my head hitting the roof!
I've got the seat all the way back, if I bring it forward to allow room to lean back my knees hit the dash. Other than taking out the seat, are there any tricks to gain more room?

PS
Not ONE Vette passed me the entire trip. Later in our other car, a few C5s and C6s, plus a few C3s parked. Today saw a mint 67/427...smooth...and FINALLY a single customized late C4. Where is everybody?

I had an 89' that the seats went lower, my 90' does not. I am 6'1, and in the last 2 years I have put on a ton of weight, and I still fit ok. It must be how people are shaped.

I am 6' even at 180. I have bunches of headroom. Of course I cheated with Corbeau seats.

I have the seat lower...and I want to keep it stock. It must be shape related, I think I am more torso and less leg.

IMO it depends on the year. Back in the 80s I couldn't fit in my brothers C4 but I fit in my 95 vert (just barely)

I'm 6' 3" and I fit in my 96 very comfortably about half an inch between my knees and the dash and about 1 1/2 of headroom, not the best but I find it cozy. But my friend has an 89 and I tried getting in his, won't try that again.

I have the easy answer to this mystery. All Americans are Mutts lol. Im 6ft 2 but I have short little legs and a long trunk. Anybody whos owned a lovable Mutt know what im talking about. In general folks everybodies build is different so legs and trunk size will always be a factor. If you just need a little more room use the glass top. GC

It would probably help if my car had come with the glass top, mine wasn't optioned with it.

I'm about the same size as you ( 6' 0" and 245 ) and I know I have a long torso so I sit taller and I have to recline ( low riding ) or my head rubs on that thick headliner which is annoying. I was almost thinking of removing the thick headliner and replacing it with a thinner one to get that extra half inch.

Which Corbeau seats did you get? I am thinking of putting those in this fall. Did you have to get any rail adapters from them? Any pictures?

I tried installing a set of carbon fiber look Netami's and they looked fantastic but the bolster is thicker and the sides are a bit wider so it got stuck . I loved the way it looked if it would have fit . That's when I looked at the Corbeau and noticed they had a slightly thinner bottom and lower bolster.

6'3" and pushing 280lbs. I have a glass top also and have no headroom issues... it also helps not to have any hair to get in the way!!!

I'm 6'2" 215 and I fit ok. When I autocross I have to take off the top because of the helmet.

6'4" here, In my 92 I have the seat all the way back and all the way down.
I have an inch or so headroom - not enough for my helmet.
I remove the seat cushion and I fit with a little bit of room.
Just don't drive too long without the cushion.

6'3" and 280 here...with the seat all the way back and lowered I can get in fine, just gotta suck it in to get back out! I seem to fit a little better since I got the car a year ago...probably because my fat a$$ is slowly scrunching the seat cushion into oblivion...hey whatever works so I can cruuuuuise

astepup said that

I'm 6'2" and 205 lbs. My car doesn't leave the garage if it's not nice enough to drive without the top on, so I am not a great example. I have the Plexiglas top and if i remember correctly i had room to spare with the top on.

there was another thread on ehre somewhere that said manual seat tracks were almost an inch shorter, and another guy modified some manual tracks to make them lower also by cutting a section out of the front riser and flattening the rear down as well. I can't for the life of me find the pics again but as a tall guy I feel your pain. I am going to install a set of manual tracks and see if they really are shorter as soon as i can.
