The wedges are supposed to replace the rubber blocks on the springs, but my question is with the contact point of the wedges.
The rubber blocks have that flat metal cap that is about an inch wide that contacts the frame or whatever it is called. The wedges have just a very narrow ridge for a contact point, which to me is going to put alot of pressure on a small area that before had a much large area.
Yes it can be. I didn't use them, I think they are a marketing ploy. Just cut down the stock rubber to the height you want. Then you don't have to worry about gluing new parts on that smush.
I don't think so. First off, the pressure exerted on them will deform them a bit, and the contact patch will be bigger. Second, the spring is mainly held in by the aluminum retainers, so I think they would carry most of the weight.
I like the idea of cutting the rubber down...but how does one get those metal caps off?? I have pryed, hammered, poked, proded....and it has not budged one bit.

I did not waste my time trying to remove them. I just cut through the rubber. Don't cut to much off at once. Then come back with a belt sander and make it square, plus to the thickness you would like.
