The vette is the one to beat in a race. Now before yall come to crucify me for this comment. Im young and most of my swing on the import team. Now I have a guy i went to high school who bought a 350z and is talking trash about a turbo he is putting in the car. Running 11's he says by the end of the year. Now at this point in time my car , even with the computer issue, will destroy his 350z. My question is ... why vette guys? i mean go bother someone else.
(Talking about racing at the track also)
I love when Mustangs try me. I mean as much as I dont want to say this mustangs run in my blood. And this is my first corvette. But when a stang trys me I chuckle. yeah some stangs are quick but come on the majority here are
Funny how when "Track Night" rolls around, there's always the excuses of:
1. It's running to rich or lean
2. the timing isn't right and I don't want to hurt it
3. I just changed the thingie and it's not dialed in yet
4. I can't get any traction now, too much power
4.5 I have to go buy a dog this weekend
I attribute it to the Corvette being one of the classic icons of sports cars.
It's basically if you can beat or run with a Vette, you can brag your car up.
I've had so many people come flying past me after I passed them on the highway. I even had one car do the rubberband driving next to me, egging me on. If I could afford the ticket or had a radar detector, I may have made a move.
I work with a guy who has Hyundai Tiburon with a chip, cat back and a sticker that says "Try and Keep up!" across the top of the back window that wants to race me. I always laugh at him when he says anything about it as does everyone else who is within earshot. It brightens my day every time he opens his mouth.
Look at every single 93-97 F-body classified. They are say "5.7L LT-1 Corvette engine"
And ask a mustang boy about his car, the first thing they say "It will keep up with a vette" That is if they have done some performance work.
Thats the good rep we as vette owners get. Now if we can only loose the bad rep of "not knowing how to work on our own cars"
Today, while cruising up the interstate, I was doing 80, and a Land Rover pulled along side, you know the ones with the V8 and a supercharger. I had nailed it, moved around some cars, and I was in the left lane. so, at 95, I just lifted, and settled down to 72 mph. Then whoosh, flyin by me close to a hundred, a big white Land Rover.
I was done, statement made, and the guy was movin like a freight train, through traffic, weaving and slamming on the brakes till he got it down to a reasonable speed.
There was a red mustang that pulled along side, and honked. I looked at him, and he gave me thumbs up, and we moved on.
Oh, btw, I used the coupeguy fake out. Just pressing on the brake pedal unlocks the torque converter, and it moves out just before it shifts.
He thought I was slowing down when I just pulled away...........brake lights a glowing.....
