Default Coolant says LO.....

My cluster seems to work well albeit a bit dim. However, the coolant always reports LO. The Battery indicator is working as well everything else. Which or what sensor should I be looking at? The sensor on the radiator? or on the passenger side of the engine?

How would I know if there is an air bubble. It has been over month since the new radiator and coolant was installed.

The cooling system may look full when it's cool but since you had a new radiator installed there's a good chance you still have air in there. You have to "burp" the cooling system to get all of the air out. Your owner's manual will show you the procedure or you can do a search on this forum.

Default update

It occurred to me today for obvious reasons that I may have not described correctly what I was seeing as "Coolant LO".

What I am seeing just for clarification is on the main instrument cluster the section that toggle between the Battery Voltage reading and Coolant temperature. What should be a reading for "Coolant Temperature" only reads "LO". Would this still fall under "air bubble" or needing to stack or burp the cooling system? Or does this point to a faulty sensor or wire somewhere?

This revelation of mine came to me when today I got a "Low Coolant" warning light on the (Information Center).

I will check the actual coolant level in the morning when it's nice and cool.

Default Sensor Wire

On my 84 the sending unit wire (sensor) is located on the left (drivers side) in the head toward the front of the engine close to spark plugs. I have the same problem as you except I have a crate motor that was installed prior to my owning it and the persone left out the sensor and cut the wire. So I am searching for the wire where he snipped it. But my temp reading on my dash reads LO just like yours. So I would check to see if the wire came off or the sensor is bad.

Check to see if the sensor is simply disconnected or the connector is broken. I disconnected the coolant temp sensor on my '92 one day just for shets and giggles when I was messing around under the hood and started the car. The LOW COOLANT light on my DIC snapped on.
