Digital Cluster ground
I just had my 1986 corvette digital cluster dash re-built, they replaced the power supply and bulbs. I installed it the other day and now it some times works and other times it is dark. I can see the guages they work but no back-light behind it. I read somewere on this fourm that it could be a ground problem but I cant seem to find the one for the cluster. Does anyone know were it is I think it is under the dash some were but i cant seem to find it.

I experience the blackout every now and then, usually after the car sits for a week or two. It comes on with I tap the corner near the odometer. I really should remove the cluster to clean the contacts.

I have removed the cluster and connected the three ground wires directly to a wire going to the neg on the battery. Guess what.......it still goes black every once in a while and lights up with a tap. I opened it up and cleaned everything and didn't find any bad solder joints so I am content on it going dark every once in a while. Sucks but it beats paying out the bucks for a rebuilt unit.
