Hey guys, i am trying to put together an 89 corvette that was in the the front. I am getting different answers from ppl regarding the hood. Will a hood from say a newer year like 94 or 95 fit an 89. Does it bolt right up or do all kinds of things need to be changed? If something needs changed, what is it and is it worth it? What years will bolt right up to it? sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance.
ok thanx guys, thanx mackeyred96, hopefully i'll learn alot here. Just to let you know i picked up an 89 coupe, needs hood, frt bumper and all the lights, and a few small things. it had a nast wood grain that was coming off on everything so i need speaker covers too. we got it for i think around 4200, hope to have less than 8 in it all said and done. 59k miles too. see ya guys around

Re: I need help(hood question) (JonM)
I didn’t drive my 1990 convertible to work today, but im going to print out your pic and check it out later.
At a quick glance it looks like the passenger side might hit the A/C evaporator, and the driver side might hit the ECM or brake booster. It would be easy to tell if the cars were sitting next to each other.
Some earlier years have the scissor type support as opposed to the gas strut and they are mounted on the other side of the car. Might want to stay with 89 or newer to be safe.

Re: I need help(hood question) (Aerovette)
A cargo plane? Your in luck, I keep a C130 in the back yard for just such a need.
Send the money ill need for the jet-fuel, and you got a deal.
But seriously, I think ill wait till im back in California before doing in moods like this. I’m sure I can find someone in Los Angeles with an 84
I think they make a kit to convert from the old scissor type support over to the gas-strut type of support. Sux to have to walk around to the other side in order to lower the hood.
Actually looks like the '84 hood will fit newer to me - the '84 has the same A/C and brakes as (for example) my '85 (right?) so that shouldn't be a problem. I've got the "kit" (really it's just the GM brackets) on mine to have the hydraulic type hood support - makes lifting the thing a LOT easier! The holes/tapped inserts were already in the hood for the bolt on.....
