Default How dependable is your C4

Its been said by some that C4s are not dependable. So I have to ask. Would you get in your C4 tomorrow a take a 1500 mile road trip? Or would you feel more likely make your destination without any hassels in the newer family car.

I would choose a newer vehicle because i'm still replacing things on the vette.Once I get all things replaced hoses wires ect,I would.I have put 2000 miles on it since I bought it with no breakdown.

Mine is dependable. I would take it on a 1500 mile trip. Mine only has 250K+ miles. Whats another 1500?

I just took mine through 7 states, a total of 1371 miles and I would have not hesitated to turn right around and do it over. I've also had mine from north central Illinois to Atlanta 3 times. The C4 is a car, it will perform dutifully just as any other car will,,,, and it will break down occasionally,,,, just like any other car.

Mine's fine, but I would need to ensure that the spare is inflated and I had a can of fix-a-flat for it since it only holds air for a week or so.

I would with no hesitation. I can count on one hand the number of times my C4 has left me stranded in the last 11 years. Three times were because of the alternator failing (has not happened since upgrading it) the last couple of times were because of the injectors needing to be replaced.

The week after I bought the 92 we did about 1,000 miles down to North Georgia and back for a long weekend.

A few years later we drove it to Colorado Springs and back. About 2,500 miles round trip that time.

My C4 is just as reliable as any new car. It all depends upon how you take care of the preventative maintenance.

I've driven it to the Cruise-In the last 4 years with no problems (The last trip the battery was bad and leaking-didn't know it until I got home). I wouldn't have any problems driving my '93 anywhere.

6600 miles in 3 weeks last year, and if work schedule for the two of us allowed, I'd leave today to do it again!

I'm confident 90% of the time or even more. If it breaks down I have it back in a couple of days. Hell, the car is 20 years old. I don't expect a new car. ( Even they break down.)

I'd drive my car from coast to coast without even worrying about it.
I take 2,500+ mile road trips in it every year doing the Hot Rod Power Tour long haul.

Can't wait for next year.

My 85 is as dependable as all the GM's I've owned in 40 years. Take as good of care to your Vette as possible and the GM Gremlins will pop out anytime they want. But other brands have regular problems also. When you only put 1000/1500 miles on a specialty car per year, you would hope to drive many years without problems. Mines been on tow hook once for broken tranny line in 8 years and 10,000 miles of cruise ins and car shows and evening drives. I'm happy. But also because I don't beat it to death like I did all my muscle cars, maybe that helps. Muscle cars v/s horsepower=$

Since almost everything on the car has been replaced, I do consider it dependable, 3 years and 23,000 miles and it has never left me stranded. And now it has a new motor....WW

Don't like driving mine farther than 10 miles away.......the tow bill gets ugly after that.....

but the car is 25 yrs. old with many aftermarket parts.....for the most part it is reliable though.....

When i bought my car i changed all the fluids and serp belt right away, the rest has just been preventative stuff that i'm **** about and that also gives me time in the garage to tinker which i love. The wife and i took the vette on vacation last year and put 1500 miles on it in a week without even a hiccup. I wouldn't hesitate to hop in the car today and drive the thing cross country if i could get the time out of work.
