okay as most of you know my vette suffered a serious smack with a guard rail at 140... anyway im rebuilding it and i bought another hood.
Problem: hood latch wont open the hood (it wont even budge)
the hit is on the passenger side headlight area, i plan to assault the hood tomorrow with a sawzall but i was wondering where i should cut so i dont destroy anything important... so anyone with any input between now and 5pm friday (est) would be awesome!!!
maybe carefully around where the latches are. Or you could try in the front. Just cut sraight across the front, all the way, and that may relieve pressure on the latches.
I personally would use a circular saw and set the blade depth to the depth of the hood myself.
It says "open the driver's door, insert this steel rod at the hinge area, twist, and up pops the hood" does it work the same at the passenger door? doesnt late model C4s have 2 latches?
I'm wondering if his hood won't open it may be jammed from the accident. But I agree, try to use of one these procedures first.
I was going on the assumption the accident won't allow the hood to be opened in the normal procedure. When he said it wouldn't budge was what I was going off of. If a wire or latch is broken he should still be able to pull the lever, right?
