It happened so much at the factory, Gordon Killebrew actually made a release tool. I think you can get them from Vette suppliers like Ecklers or Mid America.
At one end make a 90 bend 1" to 1 1/4 long
The other make a nother bend @90 giving you a 7" handle
Works like a top. Or do it the hard way like hamrhed did
And manhandle it
You will need to fisharound in there and catch the hood lock but its not too hard I think mam corvette or ecklers has a .pdf on how to use there tool but I perfer the $5 hardware store rod obtion

Finally got around and made my own release tool with the instructions you guys pointed me to. A few times viewing the pics that were posted and alot of fishing and it popped right open. The clip that the cable is attached to appears to have broken. Rigged up an emergency release cable and I'll check out other C4s tomorrow at the track.
