No and possibly.

Correct the cooling system issue before you drive it any more. Check the front of the radiator for debris. C4 Corvettes are road vacuums, and will inhale everything in sight...and it will lodge itself in the front of the radiator. In fact, I would remove it, clean the front, and take it to a radiator shop to be flushed and pressure tested.

Do you have any coolant leaks that you can see?

260 degrees isn't helping your oil pressure either.

The hotter it gets the lower the pressure will become

with above posts.

Remember, you also have an air conditioning condensor in front of your radiator. Crap cakes the front of BOTH. Cleaner fins on the radiator transfer heat better and unclogged fins of the A/C condensor deliver more air to the radiator. I pull the radiator and then work over both sides of the condensor before I re-install the cleaned radiator.

Well it's a 1990 6 speed I just bought from a doctor.it's clean as it gets and came with a mountain of service history all performed by ase shop.I havE had only one time it's gone to the 260 mark all weekend it ran cool so I'm hopeing a good servicing will do the trick. The valve noisy seems to get louder after it warms up.I don't think it's burning oil the exaust is clean.I'm wondering if a top end would be a good idea to quiet up the engine but should I just do the whole thing at once this winter.Or flush the cooling system and drive it.I only plan on keeping it a year or so end then pup grade to a 400 hp vette.I will also say I'd like this car a lot more if a few bucks would solve this problem and get me the power I want.thanks to all.Andyes the fan is working. What temp should that kick in and is it adjustable.

On around 228, off around 210....but the gauges are notoriously inaccurate. No, it's not adjustable without reprogramming the ECM. The fan should run continuously if the A/C is on.
