You can use the "search" function on this forum and you will be able to find photos of the LT5 and L98. They look quite different. Also there is a code in the VIN to identify the engine, somewhere around the first 6 or 8 digits, 1YY07 for the L98 and 1YZ07 for the ZR1.
Well 405 would be nice I would prefer to not make huge changes ,as I am afraid to loose realiblity or huge efficiency losses.I am a bit surprised to learn my 07 mustang gt had more pull then a 6 speed corvette.I love the car and I want to keep so I need to fix this.
Well I just never thougt that even at 17 years old that a car that looks and handles would have more punch 300 min.I have always know the zr1 had 375 out of the box I just assumed the regular car would have around 300.hence my surprise .I do love the car much more then my mustang I just want to punch it up a little. My local track has a lot of 330 to 400 hp cars so I need to step it up.
Turn your engine into a 383, good heads, add a nice cam, get a tune, and port your exhaust or get headers.....
You will be pleasantly surprised.
You will be looking at $4000 by the time you are done.
Thats it..if you upgrade to an LT1 youre looking at 300hp stock. It will still cost not too far off from that to get to your goal...A true 100hp gain takes more than youd think. Totally worth it though once its done.
Dont worry about resale if you cant enjoy the car, these are meant to have fun with .Theres always someone out there looking for a car with the mods already done anyway. These arent collectible like C1-3 anyway they made a ton of them so have fun with it you only live once.

My wife is gonna kill me either way.I think I'm gonna play with it through the winter and make the little repairs it needs and get a 92 thanks guys.
92-96 LT1s have 300hp, stock, with auto or manual tranny, but the 96 manual cars have LT4s. (330 hp)
I have a 94 auto and did a couple of things to it to get a little more out of it. (see my signature) It has ran a best of 13.2@ 106mph.
Next up is an LT4 Hotcam, electric water pump and Cloyes True-Roller timing chain.
I'll be dipping into the 12s after these are put on.

If it's just off the line pull (torque) you want, the LT1 isn't going to offer much more than your current L98. Although the LT1s are rated at 300 HP vs the 245/250 of the L98, low end torque is pretty much the same. The L98 will run out of steam around 4800 rpm while the LT1 will pull almost to the red line.
Gonna play with it for a while and go from there. The farmers almanac came out and said we have a mild winter coming I'm in the hvac service business so I think I'm gonna get to know this cool car I have see where I'm at in the spring. Thanks for the input.
