I have a problem with the door locks on my 91 red vette. Currently the power locks do not work at all. But, that was not the original problem The original problem was that the power locks worked fine - but when the doors were locked and you would try to open the passenger door - the door would open and set off the security alarm -- I opened the passenger door panel to see if i could figure it out and now the locks don't work at all. There is no voltage on the connector that goes into the switch. I checked the fuse panel and all visually look OK - i didn't ohm them out.
I am open for suggestions or ideas.
Thanks soooooo much for this forum. I am new to vettes and new to this forum --- but i have learned soooooo much.
There should be a circuit breaker for the door locks. Check for 12-volts on both sides of the circuit breaker. If that tests okay, check for 12-volts at the switch in the driver's door.
That makes sense --- i have already checked for 12v on the switch on both doors and there is nutin. Do you know where the circuit breaker or fuse would be? I don't see a fuse labeled "door lock" on the fuse panel inside the passenger door.
There are 2 aux fuse panels under the passenger side kick panel. I had to replace this one too.
I had the same problem with the passenger side lock. It would lock, but it wouldnt travel enough to physically lock the door.
I took the door panel off, lubed everything up, and fixed a slight bend in two of the door lock rods. All is well now. The panel will have to come off...
If it doesnt go back on perfectly, it can bind up where the lock slider sits in the panel also.
