speaker covers
Big project came next, but it was fun and a little trial and error:
1) I got a large plastic tub
2) Filled it with plaster of paris
3) Waited for it to set until thick consistancy
4) Stuck old cover in plaster (hopefully you have the old one)
5) Let it set till dry
6) Pulled out old cover and lined mold with thick plastic wrap
7) Many,Many layers of fiberglass resin and fiberglass mesh (I used the kind for boat repairs)
(I told you it is a big project)!
8) After it is dry take it from the mold and use cutting tools to trim, I used an air disk and razor knife to finish and cut speaker holes.
For the mounting "bolts" I used little fasteners I got from Sears hardware and drilled holes for them. They are self seating into the fiberglass and then a screw is put into them from the underside of the sill-carpet.
Very long tedious job. But it was kind of fun as it was my first time playing with fiberglass, well other that my boat project and I REALLY had NO IDEA what the end result would look like!
