My perfect(was) 88 dash cracked this past winter from the temp changes. So I've been moding and playing with my 98 C5 over the past few months and neglecting the C4....I know I should be ashamed of myself. Anyway, I bought a few new items for the C4 like Door stuff, LLoyds Mats, and that Dash cap in Corvette America's catalog. WOW!!! how incredibly simple! and very NICE LOOKING!
It makes all the difference......looking over the steering wheel and seeing NO CRACKS!
I will post a pic when the camera gets back from the fair. You can't really tell the difference from the dash cap from the original dash. It's such a well molded cap it's impossible to tell at first glance UNLESS you knew what to feel for. There is no way to know unless you reach under the very edge where you can't see and feel for the caps edge, it's that good!

mine cracked too. 25 years old and perfect until a week ago.
Can't wait for the picture
Well shoot...I just checked their site and they dont have dash caps for a 94. Anybody know of a place that does? Mine looks ok so far but it'd be nice to get one now to prevent any sun damage etc.
I have a cap on mine and was very happy with the fit and look until I went to Carlisle this year. I let my car sit in the sun all day and the cap warped, when I bought the cap the ad said (Guarantied not to fade or warp)..Now if I could only remember who I purchased it from....Be careful, these will warp badly if left in direct sunlight all day...WW
I'm hoping it helps to follow the instructions and use the adhesive to glue the cap to the original dash as provided in the instructions and warning that glueing the outside edges to prevent warping works.
to me it looks like a cap when looking at the speakers
Sorry but that right there is enough to turn me off to a cap. My dd El Camino has a cap on it and it was picking up off the passenger side, warped by the sun. I had a he11 of a time finding a glue that would hold it down. I'm afraid a cap is not for me.
I had one of those caps on my 68 Firebird convertible for many years. It was always exposed to the sun with the top down. It was glued as per the instructions and it never warped or faded at all.

astepup said that
There are still dash covers(another) available for the later C4 dashes. Should protect it from UV rays at least.
