this might be a dumb question put i see be saying things like "flame on" or "no flaming" what does this mean? just curious. thanks

"Flaming" refers to criticizing another member's comments. When a member makes a comment to the effect of "flame on" or "donning flame suit", they are acknowledging that their post may be controversial and may evoke some negative comments, and they are prepared to live with the fallout of making said post.

Friz said it well. An honest and respectful disagreement is fine, but flaming is when it deteriorates to the juvenile "I know you are, but what am I?" "Well, you're a BIGGER one!" type of name-calling exchange. (Kind of like what we hear out of Washington from both sides of the aisle!)
