I have a pretty bad water leak on the passenger side of my car. It appears to be coming through the window, and i am certain my targa top is tightened. I was thinking of gettin new weather strips, but i dont kno why it leaks in the first place.
Anyone else have a similar problem, and is there anything i can do for it?
If you still have the original weatherstripping on that '86, it may be time to replace. To find where it's coming from, have someone run a waterhose near the suspected leakage area while you sit inside the passenger side to look for it. Or you can run the car through a carwash.

Did the problem just start or have you had it for a while? As others have said it couyld be time for new weather stripping, or the window may be out of alignment.
it was in the rain for a while before the i noticed the leak starting....the windows were alittle slow so i wouldnt doubt that they are off their alignment, but i will try to replace the weather strips n see where it goes from there.

If you noticed something not right with the window, there may be alignment or window motor issues, not weatherstripping. It's very possible that the window may not be going all the way up, creating the leakage you noticed.
I bought my weatherstripping kit from Corvette Central. It was about $500.
I was checking out corvette central website and i was wondering what exactly i needed to purchase. I see the 5 piece kit, will this and adhesive take care of all the strips, or do i need any other parts
Try Wilcox They have good prices and the parts fit well. Ive done a few jobs on a couple cars with their stuff. Getting ready to do the B pillar on my sons 95. His passenger window leaks real bad too. Ive already done his A pillar and Targa Now Im doing the B pillar and the window sweeps and inside felt guides.

The driver window goes up rather slow but the leak comes from the passenger window, which goes up n down perfectly. I sincerely doubt that the window is off its alignment, but i would like to know for sure before i spend 500$ on the weather strips. How can i tell if the window is off its alignment.
