From: Amateur driver on open course.
Software question...
I asked this before, but never followed up. What do I need to analyze performance and change how my car runs from a laptop computer? I am assuming a cable, and software, but I want to know the best software for my setup and where to get it. Thanks.

I've been using WinALDL (free) for analysis only, I made the cable myself last weekend for less than $5 from radio shack :)

Just make sure you have the right engine type selected before you connect the cable - I'm sure mine was acting wierd before I changed it.

I just shoved the wires in. I have soldered the ends of the wires though so they are more like pins.
I eventually plan to come up with something more permanent (perhaps make something with epoxy putty/resin), I'm not buying the proper connector though $$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!
