Default console side gap issues on a 1990 is this normal?

I have tried everything to correct this and the side pieces won't fit any better. I'm fairly certain it put together right .... the other issue while my shifter plate seems coorectly mounted the seat switches seem to far forward.

could I possible have 91 parts and that is why it is doing this? Or were they the same from 90 to 91?

My 1990 has no Gap and fits qtirw well, so I would say that what you have is not Normal.

Isn't there some adjustability on the seat control plate? I had mine apart a month or so ago and I think the holes are slotted, if not maybe you can slot them a little?

My console side pieces fit like that too. I know there 2 screws under the gear indicator panel that pull it in somewhat.

My 91 fits a bunch better than that in that location though in other places it looks like they leave a small gap on purpose as there seems to be no way to make it go away. No doubt to cover manufacturing tilerances that are a bit loose at times. Going by your picture it looks to me like the radio bezel trim is not fully seated or it is the angle of the picture. What I see is it fits close at the top of the pic and the gap gets bigger the closer you get to the console. Something might not be fully seated keeping the trim from going all the way back on the bottom and keeping the shifter plate from sliding forward. On mine I had to heat the bottom where the screw goes through the place under the cup holder to get it to seat flat as heat had warped it. You can not see the repair with the cup holder/ ashtray installed. For todays coffee cup sizes the cup holder seems a bit useless as well for more than an extra small coffee. Saying that I don't drink coffee while driving the Vette. previous gf complaind about no good cup holder and told her to shut up and hang on and maybe if she was going to wish it might be for a pass side air bag or at least a grab handle..LOL
