Default Time to sell

I know it's time, but I'm finding it really hard to list it.
It's gonna hurt to let it go,but I know it's time.

The sixteen year old is a big one I know. Insurance companies demand you insure them just because they're in the house. Went through that, fought the battle, lost, but now I'm child free.

it's a bad time to sell but you know if it's time or not. There'll be other vettes later down the road if you're so inclined.

You didn't specifically ask for comment but since you posted, here's my 2 cents:

Taxes are totally out of control everywhere. Tomorrow we should all vote - and when deciding WHO to vote for or against, let's try to send a message we just are tired of paying so much.

Doctor bills are an unfortunate reality - can't help you there.

As for the daughter, don't know the circumstances but when I was a kid (in prehistoric times) my parents made it clear long in advance I would not be driving the family car except for going to the store, driving my Dad to work etc, nor would they buy me a car. After flunking out of college I walked to a fast food joint and mopped floors and sold fries, with one eye out the window for any Corvette which might drive by. With cash in hand I bought my first car (C-1) and the parents had no problem with that at all. It was tough when my friends either were given cars or got their parents' to go cruising, but in holding their ground my folks gave me a bigger gift than any can they could have bought.

Now - if you really have to sell it, just set your sights on "someday" and plan on coming back. I went about 32 years between Vettes but now with kids grown, house paid, etc, it's just as much fun as it used to be. Hang in there and good luck with the sale if you get to that point.

Taxes will always come...dr bills hopefully not too often...and 16 yr olds...well they turn 18 eventually. Is there any way you can keep it and maybe store it for awhile...a year or so? By then things might look a lot different and you won't feel the need to sell her

astepup said that

Sarge, there were a lot more of them like that back then than there are today. Oh, I didn't appreciate it then, but I feel they gave me a great gift by example. And to their credit, when I earned my own money and bought the car I wanted, they never once second guessed my choice.

When my mother was alive she would sometimes recall with amusement when the insurance agent came to the house (they used to do that!) when I first got the car. It was the same agent my parents used, and he and I were in the living room and she was in the kitchen. About the second or third time the guy went out to ask her something she finally said "Look, THAT'S your customer in there - his car, his money, his policy. I have nothing to do with it".

All that said, it is a different world today in many ways, and we all are far more dependent on transportation. I'm not criticizing the OP at all, because for all I know he may need to buy his daughter a car for work, school, volunteer work whatever. In many cases today it helps the entire family to have a kid able to drive themselves.

I think you need the Corvette more than your daughter needs a car. Get her a good bicycle.

Thing's were much simpler when I was young, hell if you were caught with beer in your car the police would make you dump it out and tell you they better not see you doing it again.

Really sorry to hear that but I know sometimes circumstances makes us do things that we'd rather not. Hope things work out for you and later move back into another vette. Good luck with the sale and I wish you and your family the best.

Get ready for some tire kick'n time wasters. I think I have mine sold now, but what a human circus that was.

I may be on the lookout for a ZR-1 so I'm not done here yet.

I literally had tears in my eyes when I watched my 92ZR-1 drive off with its new owner. I know its a machine of metal. plastic & rubber, but it really does cut like a knife when selling your pride & joy.

Taxes and Dr. bills are a clear and present need.

However, my personal opinion is that a 16 year old does not NEED their own car. In fact, I think that NOT giving a 16 year old kid a car is probably doing them a much better service in the long run. That's not how life works (well, for most of us at least).

I'd rethink this one, personally...
