Time to sell

it's a bad time to sell but you know if it's time or not. There'll be other vettes later down the road if you're so inclined.

Taxes are totally out of control everywhere. Tomorrow we should all vote - and when deciding WHO to vote for or against, let's try to send a message we just are tired of paying so much.
Doctor bills are an unfortunate reality - can't help you there.
As for the daughter, don't know the circumstances but when I was a kid (in prehistoric times) my parents made it clear long in advance I would not be driving the family car except for going to the store, driving my Dad to work etc, nor would they buy me a car. After flunking out of college I walked to a fast food joint and mopped floors and sold fries, with one eye out the window for any Corvette which might drive by. With cash in hand I bought my first car (C-1) and the parents had no problem with that at all. It was tough when my friends either were given cars or got their parents' to go cruising, but in holding their ground my folks gave me a bigger gift than any can they could have bought.
Now - if you really have to sell it, just set your sights on "someday" and plan on coming back. I went about 32 years between Vettes but now with kids grown, house paid, etc, it's just as much fun as it used to be. Hang in there and good luck with the sale if you get to that point.

astepup said that

When my mother was alive she would sometimes recall with amusement when the insurance agent came to the house (they used to do that!) when I first got the car. It was the same agent my parents used, and he and I were in the living room and she was in the kitchen. About the second or third time the guy went out to ask her something she finally said "Look, THAT'S your customer in there - his car, his money, his policy. I have nothing to do with it".

All that said, it is a different world today in many ways, and we all are far more dependent on transportation. I'm not criticizing the OP at all, because for all I know he may need to buy his daughter a car for work, school, volunteer work whatever. In many cases today it helps the entire family to have a kid able to drive themselves.

Please change it back

However, my personal opinion is that a 16 year old does not NEED their own car. In fact, I think that NOT giving a 16 year old kid a car is probably doing them a much better service in the long run. That's not how life works (well, for most of us at least).
I'd rethink this one, personally...

Sure miss them days.....
I was thinking the very same thing...my older brothers and little sister got cars right out of high school 'cause they were going to college. I joined the Air Force right out of high school, and when I asked about MY car my Dad said "hell, boy...the Air Force will fly you where you need to go"...sigh.
