Ok well i changed my fuel pump about a month ago, and had my car at the paint shop for the past two weeks. Well when i picked up the car yesterday it was going fine until i kind of got on it a little and it was cutting out just like before, before i changed the pump. I did buy it used from this forum but it is a high flow and apparently not many miles on it. Could I have done something wrong or could it just be dying. The car starts right up and is fine going 30 to 40, which is the weird thing. Im worried the strainer fell off or something or maybe something got into the fuel filter. Anyone have any ideas?
Its hard to enjoy the new paint( Ill have pics up tomorrow in the paint thread) when the car doesnt run right.
No worries you will figure it out. Is your check engine light on? Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Be careful of that pretty new paint while you are working on your car. We need more details to help you figure out whats going on,
When its cutting in and out what is the fuel pressure at? Did you replace the fuel pump because you thought it was the problem, or did you know it was the problem? Have you replaced the fuel filter lately?
I guess i need to buy a fuel pressure guage. Basically it turns on fine, runs fine as long as i drive it normal(slow) up to 50 at least. But if i try to gun it, it will rev but wont go, almost like it goes into nuetral. Its not the tranny. Its not like transmission slipping. See when i first replaced it i drove it and got on it and it went fine. Somehow sitting around or something may have messed up the new one.
I think i figured it out. I am getting air in the fuel line. Now I just have to figure out from where and how.
Check back at the tank first because that's what you took off. Make sure your hoses are good and fastened securely and properly and hooked to the correct inlets.

Change the Fuel filter first ! And you do need a fuel pressure guage to check fuel pressure . Shop around they are not pricy !
A vaccuum gage is even cheaper !

When I had fuel filte issues I could stab the accelerator (in park) and see the fuel pressure spike down. The vacuum line to the FPR must be off & plugged for this test.
Sorry im not the most savy guy with cars. I try to learn all i can. What is the fpr? Is it a vacuum? Like for air and gas? and would anyone have a picture with what it is pointed out? Sorry to keep asking stupid questions.

FPR is fuel pressure regulator. Its located behind the first spark plug wire on the passenger side of my motor in tthis pic. Its under the plenum, on the intake manifold. You should realy think about buying a factory shiop manual. Not one of those haynes manuals. But the red FSM
