we had last night. About 6 inches of heavy wet snow that snapped power line poles for miles which will leave most of us in the dark for at least the next few days. I'm SO glad dad and I got a generator for when Y2K was supposed to be the next apocolypse Least I can keep the house warm and the vittles cold, not to mention being able to turn on the garage lights and at least look at my car Not so sure now when I can get the vette into storage cuz I sure as he$$ am not driving her on these roads just to get to town and put her away.

Know what you mean. We had the exact same thing here in Sweden this week.
Fortunately, I already had my gem inside for winter:
Nice ride, have you noticed a lot of various vettes in Sweden?
Thx. Sure is. There's a very active vette club in Sweden. Founded in 1974: Club Corvette Sweden. I don't know the number of members as of today. You can see the club sticker on my windscreen...

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I have to ask... Is it safe to assume that's how your Vette will stay for the winter months? If so, why?
To me, it never seemed like a good idea to let the suspension "hang" on any car for long periods of time especially, C4's with composite leaf springs. I think leaving the car like that could adversly affect the balljoints, springs, endlinks etc...
I apoligize in advance for the "off topic" inquiry but I had to ask because I'm just curious...
Take care.

The first of many this winter, I used to enjoy winter, the older I get the less I enjoy them. Is the car covered, was the storm predicted or out of the blue.

We knew it was coming, just didn't have a clue as to how much damage it'd inflict. The car's safely tucked away in the garage. I used to use a cover until I spoke to a friend that has a beautifully restored 1968 Plymouth GTX and he used a "quality" car cover until one day he pulled it back to reveal a lot of condensation. Since then he leaves it uncovered and just goes over it with a california duster every couple of weeks. I figure if that's good enough for a $40,000-plus car it's good enough for mine.

No. It's just temporary to get a few under-the-car things fixed. It's now back on wheels. I think you're right about the potential problems of leaving it raised for long periods.

Seems no matter how good a cover, you end up with scratches from it. I leave mine in my garage uncovered during the winter months and never had a problem. As far as the snow goes...i think it's going to be one of those winters.
I have sympathy for all you snowbirds and having to put your toys away. Must make the winters seem very long. Doesnt all this ice and snow get old after a while? I will post up pics this winter driving my vette with the top off, dry ground and the sun to help you forget all the snow and ice.
This is what I did yesterday. I joined some other CF members.

Yeah Mike, the winters do seem to get longer the older i get. On the positive side, i just purchased an ATV quad 4X4 with a snow plow on it so snow removal will be a little more fun this year.
