About a month ago I fixed a 1994 C4 that had a intake manifold leak. I got recommended by that guy to another vette owner that had a 1985.
The 1985 came to my house with a stumbling and varing idle. Also had black/fuel coming out the back. Oil was leaking from both sides. Man o Man was this thing in need of some TLC.
All the vacuum was old brittle and leaking. I replaced all that and that didnt fix the idle but it def helped. I sprayed carb cleaner to check my work. I removed the valve covers and both sides failed. Got a new set installed them right all groovy there. I thought about the idle and car for a min and I thought why not do a lightning test. Sure enough the number 1 cylinder wire ripped at the boot. Fixed it and tucked it away. Sweet but my idle is still jacked up. I tapped on the MAF no change. I pulled the codes and it gave me a code 13 and a 43. Which is oxygen sensor (open) and ESC malfunction. I went over to the ESC and disconnected it while running and it fixed the idle. New part is on the way and going to replace the O2 cause I think its caked up with fuel/carbon. All in all not bad but Im glad I fixed her.
Just alittle story to keep the c4 light bulb flickering.
