Default *Update* Thinking about saving a C4

Well, its been a couple months and I wanted to get an update out to everyone on the project C4.

The thread that started it all... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-g...ving-a-c4.html

So we soon realized the car had head gasket issues, I had a feeling it was seeping into #1 cylinder. Interestingly enough it was not making its way into the oil. So Dad and I planned a rebuild over the course of a 9 day visit he was making to California.

Since my Halloween costume (White trash?) seemed to go well with my $3000 accessory in the street I had to take a snapshot.

Back to business...

I had the motor ready to pull prior to his arrival, we took a quick trip out to the SEMA show then attacked the motor.

This poor car was a mess...

Motor out

Cleaning this engine bay was rough...

Working on the rebuild, new cam (Comp XE something.. I'll find the specs, real mild grind) valve job, roller rockers and a lot of little things here and there. If it was old or easy to replace (pretty much everything) it was.

Back in the car

It was a fun, tiring and brutal 7 day remove and rebuild. Dad and I managed to take her on a 20 mile nighttime cruise down PCH to break her in before he had to leave for Michigan the next morning.

We have a few issues to work out but overall everything went very very well.

I have three codes to work on H22, H58 and H64 and the idle is at 1500 and is driving me nuts and still no heat. After the week long thrash I'm taking some time off to relax and get some motivation.

Stay tuned!

Yes, we replaced the clutch. It would be mental to pull a motor and trans and not do that
