Default loud pop

I asked this question in the audio section, but think I will get more response from my C4 brothers. I just installed a new head unit into my C4 (1993). When I turn the radio on or off a get a loud pop. I have read before of others having this problem, but can't find the threads. Does anybody know how to fix this problem. Thanks

Could be the CDM or an amp in one or more of your speakers. It's a common problem.

This pop is from the speakers being powered by their own amps and they are on first before the HU. When you turn on your HU their is no delay at the speaker and you get a pop. Same when you turn it off, the speakers should be turned off before the HU to eliminate the pop.

There are relays that can be purchased to put in line with each speaker but they are a little expensive for this. I talked to an audio guru I found online last year and he sold the time delay relays, but in his opinion it won't hurt anything, its just annoying.

Speakers should be the last thing powered up in an audio system. Your new HU does not take into account the powered speakers in your system.

I was right. Not one response on the audio section. Thanks BIGGRIZZLY. Has anyone fixed this problem with out spending a fortune?
