A couple questions from a first time Vette owner (a two-tone champagne 1985 with the z51)...
1) Just how necessary are Z-rated tires? I know that the Z-rated ones will yield the best performance, but how much will I lose in terms of value, durability, and ride comfort?
2) Any suggestions for a place where I can legally and safely drive the car like it aches to be driven?
IMO,
you need to change out your springs for softer ones. The car won't handle any better or any worse, but you won't crack any teeth, either.
FYI, the 86 springs are among the softest.

Summito HTRZ is an inexpensive z rated tire.
Are you wanting to drag race or REALY drive your car?????
If you want to drive your car (turn left & right) check out the Autocross and road racing section for the track schedule. Also check out organizations like NASA, Chin, TrackDaze, Mazda Drivers, SCCA, Porsche clubs, BMW clubs, etc.
If you live in the southeast there are at least 7 road courses less than a days drive!
Thanks! Am I correct in assuming that Z rated tires will provide the hardest ride? I didn't buy this car expecting it to ride like a Caddy, but again, it's a daily driver and I'm not a racer.
