I just gave up my motorcycles after 45yrs. of riding (HAD TO MANY CORNERS SNEAK UP ON ME ) I've never been in a corvette, but in the back of my mind always thought about one. So on a SENIOR day i bought a 1987 c4 . I know my H-D's inside and out, but this is going to be a challenge. I'm going to need to ask a million ?'s. It looks and run good i think. Bought it sight unseen. Drove it home 235mi. in a severe snow storm with solid ice on the roads. That was the first challenge.(I LIVE IN THE CATSKILL MOUNTAINS):
Well so far you have made two good choices in a row:
1) You bought a C4
2) You came here to ask questions.
This forum is an absolute wealth of information. No questions are dumb questions ( we've all asked those type of questions ... that's how we learn). The "search" function can be a great friend
So start asking away.
PS I lived in Woodstock for 16 yrs prior to moving out here to the PNW.
I, too, had bikes in the past but I found myself driving my vettes more often so I sold them all. Bought another bike last summer and wish I had not since I am still driving vettes and not the new bike. Welcome to the forum! Very good advice found here often. When and if a problem should arise, come here for guidance.
Yep,welcome to the forum. I,too, bought an '87 about 2 years ago. I am not mechanically inclined. I have asked a ton of questions on here and have always received tons of answers and advice.
Welcome. It seems you've already had one hell of a Corvette inauguration. Well now you know first hand, why most of us don't drive them on snow and ice..... AND I SAID MOST!!

Well so far you have made two good choices in a row:
1) you got a C4
2) you stopped riding a Harley
I've been favoring my '94 convertible since I got it in the summer, but the other day got out on the bike again -- just to give it some exercise -- and rediscovered the pleasure of riding. If I had to give up one or the other, I'd.....well, I don't know what I'd do.
It sounds like you like to turn your own wrenches. Get
an '87 FSM (two volumes, one mechanical, one
electrical). And lurk here and absorb, ask questions
when you got 'em.
Welcome to the forum. I am also a Harley "enthusiast". When I first bought my 85 Vette, I decided to drive from Spokane to Quinn's Hot springs in St.Regis, Montana. A big snow storm hit us on the way back coming over Lookout pass. I had 18 wheelers in front, behind and to the sides of me going up that pass, and it was the most whiteknuckled drive from hell that I have ever encountered. Lets just say I was glad to be alive. Now I am a Jeep enthusiast in the wintertime. If you have problems with your car, this is the place to hang out.

Yeah.....'cause us Southern boys have never actually SEEN snow and ice
Sorry....just a little cat & dog humor...you'll get used to it.
Welcome to the world of C4 Corvettes. Rule #1: Don't worry....we can help you fix anything, so just enjoy the car. Most of us have encountered any conceivable problem with these cars, and collectively, we can help you fix anything that might go wrong. If you can spin the wrenches, we can tell you how.

Welcome to the fray.
In the catskills we were brought up driving 65 in a white out snow storm, but i don't think i want to make that trip again. It took 2 days for the color to come back in my knuckles. The only other white knuckle was hitting south chicago in a blinding rain storm 5pm rush hour on the H-D.,but it makes fond memories

It really wasn't my intention to drive in that stuff. I had checked the weather and it was good, but it was a freak storm. I know now why you don't see corvettes in the winter, but ya know boy's and their toys. We gotta have them right now.THANKS
