Anyone got suggestions on cleaning the aluminum plenum chamber between the fuel rail covers on an LT1? Mine's looking a little dingy, and need some tips before experimenting myself. Merry Christmas to all BTW!
The water issue on the engines has been talked about on the forum and some guys spray their engines with no problems and other wouldn't allow water under their hood for any amount of money. I wouldn't use a high pressure system like at a car wash on any of my cars anymore. My truck I pretreat with a engine cleaning product and then the water hose and just let it run over to rinse the dirt off. My vette was clean when I got it and have only needed to wipe it clean.
Shiney engine "Rallamo" 65,000 miles on it too, been wanting to do mine but weather is bad and so much school.
That is my engine in your link. Also, 65k miles that I have put on it.
It's got 111k total miles.

The engine in the link that NebCorvette94 posted gets washed with soap and water and a garden hose 2 or 3 times a year.
I don't go crazy with spraying water directly at any electrical connections or the Opti. But I do rinse it well.

Simple Green and a toothbrush works well for that.
Then use paper towels to dry.

95 and 96 Vented optis are not so sensitive. I found that out working on a 96 Z28. I flushed the heater core through the hoses and 100 gallons of water must have ran down the front of the motor. No problems.
