Did you get your C4 for a specific reason, or simply because it fit your budget? Me personally, I've tried all vettes, and came out with the descision that the C4's are the best! I LOVE the way they look, very refined, yet muscle car is something that they have. I ORIGINALLY wanted a Chrome Bumper Shark, but after test driving one, and noticing that it would not make for a good everyday driver, I changed my mind about them. They're fast and look nice...but near impossible to drive everyday. (That's coming from the heiney-o-meter.)
What's your reason?
From the most influence to the least:
1) I grew up with a C4 poster on my wall, that I won in some kind of school contest when I was 7 or 8.. I've been trying to find it since. It was that cool side view, of the silver / dark silver one.
2) I can fit in the freakin' thing.
3) First Vette I got to sit in was a C4. a 1989, I think.
4) Digital Dashboard
5) It's what I could afford.
6) I didn't really know much about RX7's, Supra's, etc at the time.
7) I couldn't find a REALLY nice blue 90/91 IROC-Z convertible.
8) I couldn't find a really nice 72 240z.
I knew jack squat about the car when I bought it. It was my first car, and I didn't know what the shiny cold thing on the passenger side was, and I even thought the car was fast!
i know a little more now.
The C4 was a big jump in technical sophistication over the C3 and for the moment they can be had cheaper than C1,C2 or C5. Oh, and it's a panty-dropper. :D
Wow, good question! Umm, nearly 8ish years ago, my neighbor had an '86ish black and tan 4+3 coupe. That was the first corvette i ever had ridden in. The thing was the biggest crap!!! Always stalling out and sputtering. But i was HOOKED soooo badly!! Then a family friend of mine got a new '94 polo green coupe and let me help her wash it, that sealed the last nail in the Corvette Freak Coffin! I fulfilled my dream two weeks after my 16th birthday, when i purchased my first car, a '93 polo green coupe, nearly like the one i had fallen in love with! I hope to own an LT4 someday, and an Electron Blue Z06. But C4's all the way for me! :D
I wanted a Vette BAD and at the time it the '86 was the newest that I could afford. As others mentioned, I love the looks and the digital dash :yesnod:
I saw it on the dealer's lot. It looked at me and said, "HELP!!!" Well, maybe that's a bit figurative, but it's true. The thing looked so sad sitting there with waterspots, spider-webbing, and grit in the paint. I knew there was something special underneath all that gunk! :yesnod:

Re: Why do you have a C4? (TIMSPEED)
Choice was 69 -73 or 84 - 86. I'm not independently wealthy so the 69 - 73 was out.
I love the lines and the touque of the 88 so we are looking for an 88 - 91 for the wife. And before the local guys chime in and remind me what she wants, it has to be a red or white or blue. No brown or tan interiors, automatic.
I really don't like the lines of the C5, rear end is too big and it just doesn't look good to me. The 74 - 82 C3's are OK, they are on the possible list if affordable.
