I'm gonna start off with 3M upholstery adhesive to get it tacked in place, then removing the inner cover and stapling it with short length heavy duty staples. I did this with a custom motorcycle seat I made that has a plastic seat pan. Looks good on the top.......crappy underneath. I'm hoping the inner cover hides the staples. We'll see. I'm snowed in right now, so I have plenty of time.... post pics in a while.
It was fairly simple, but I rushed it bit because I have to replace a front motor mount on my daughter's car today too.
Here's some progress pics. The vinyl was soft enough to stretch pretty easy. I went with a light adhesive then HD short staples from a staple gun. I probably would use rivets if I did it again. I could do this over and over 5 times with the vinyl I got for only $11. Sooooo.....
It's a little bunched up on one of the back corners but that's the nature of the beast. I think it turned out ok for an hours worth of unskilled labor.
I ditched the latch and the light.......
Now time to go put this piece on. Have fun folks, it's the little things that make you happy.....
That turned out great. Hope it lasts for you. I would think it would since you used the adhesive to tack it in place... should help from stretching. GREAT project!
